1 Pole

 Goal(s) :

Successfully get your horse to move only one foot at a time. Secondary objective: campo.

 Process :

Have your horse walk over a ground pole, then begin to halt with the forelegs in front of the pole and the hind legs behind. The idea is to use the lightest possible cue and to get a clear response from your horse. Next, teach your horse to step one foreleg back over the pole using a gentle pressure on the halter or your body language. You can then ask your horse to move just one hind leg in front of the pole and challenge yourself on precision. If you want to take the campo further, ask the forelegs to step forward one at a time (be logical and go gradually to avoid unbalancing your horse), while keeping the hind legs on the other side of the pole. If the hind legs move forward, ask for a slight rein-back. Step-by-step foot mobilization can also be useful for loading a horse into a trailer, various equifeel exercises, or even to introduce piaffe.

 Difficulties :

Being patient, breaking everything down, taking your time, and daring to try!
