Gait Changes Over Poles

Help the horse avoid rushing over the poles.
Place two ground poles in your working area. A few strides before the pole, transition to a lower gait. Then resume after passing the pole. You can combine this exercise with other figures, such as circles, diagonals, curved lines, etc.
If the horse rushes too much, you can perform the exercise at a walk and ask for a halt before the pole.

Engage the horse's hindquarters, back, and core muscles.
