Goal(s)
To work on control after the jump, improve the horse's responsiveness to the aids, and enhance attentiveness.
Process
Set up a small vertical (60cm) and, further away (depending on the horse's temperament), place two cones to create a gate. Approach the jump first at the trot, then at the canter if the horse responds well to the request. Make sure to perform the exercise on both reins and adjust the distance between the cones according to the horse.
Difficulties
The horse must stay focused in order to halt at the correct moment.
