Teach the foal the basics using visual markers

Process

Stop between the ground poles along the length. Move forward then circle around the first barrel at the corner of the arena and head diagonally. At the end of the diagonal, circle around the second barrel and proceed along the length. Stop between the ground poles. Walk then circle around the third barrel along the arena to start the width of the arena. Make a gait or rhythm transition between the cones. Circle around the first barrel and proceed along the length. Stop between the ground poles. Move forward to the fourth barrel and turn to start the width of the arena. Make a gait or rhythm transition between the cones.
Repeat the exercise on the other rein and on the right side of the foal.
