Goal(s)
Work on lateral movement, internal hind flexibility, general suppleness
Process
At the trot, ride a quarter line (if more advanced in training, ride the centerline and ask for more lateral movement in the leg-yield). After a few strides in a straight line to check your horse's straightness, proceed in leg-yield to B (or E), arriving on the track in shoulder-in (pay attention to the bend, engagement of the internal hind leg, and the consistency of the shoulder-in angle). Before reaching the corner, bring the shoulders in front of the haunches, then proceed into a 10m circle (watch for haunches drifting out, the bend, and engagement of the internal hind leg). Repeat directly or make a diagonal to perform the same exercise on the other rein!
Difficulties
Sequencing of exercises, proper balance in the leg-yield and shoulder-in, maintaining suppleness from start to finish with a light and constant contact
