Goal(s)

Horse's responsiveness to transitions

Process

Progressive exercises:
1) Set up only the first 8 ground poles and establish an upward transition between the two sets of four poles.
2) Once this is achieved, establish a downward transition between the two sets of four poles.
3) Set up 4 more ground poles and enter at a trot over the first poles, then ask for a canter over the next 4 ground poles, and finally ask for a trot over the last 4 poles.

Difficulties

Failing to achieve a responsive horse and/or succeeding in slowing down the horse

The objective is to boost the horse's confidence (the corridor is long and relatively narrow, which can be intimidating). Then, improve its control through the canter-walk transition, trotting over poles, and canter departure.
