Goal(s)
Maintain impulsion, achieve precision, work on upward and downward transitions.
Process
To do this, set up 3 gates along the centerline of the arena, with a minimum distance of 15m between them. Position yourself in the middle of two gates and go to the track, then place a cone, do the same on the other side. There should be 2 cones placed on each side. This allows you to have a path for a nice serpentine.
After warming up your horse at the walk and trot, you can start the exercise which initially consists of:
At the walk, pass through the gates and behind the cones to form a nice serpentine. You can also ask for a halt between each gate.
At the trot, do the same.
Then, to increase the difficulty, choose a side (left or right along the length) and for example, for the right side, stay at the walk and for the left side, maintain the trot. You can also add a halt in the gates if you want to increase the difficulty.
Difficulties
Consistent work in the gait, symmetry.
Maintain a nice bend on the inside leg with a rein corridor without using supporting reins.
Achieve precise transitions with discretion and minimal interaction with legs and hands.
Keep the horse active in upward and downward transitions.
